Memory Book Making

I first discovered Memory Books about two years ago. I thought they looked lovely and wanted to have a go. I bought some Tonic Memory Book dies and had a go. This album is made using the Memory Book 3 die set. It must have been OK because I sold it. As you know I use my Brother Scan and Cut a lot in my crafting. I was delighted when Cutting Craftorium released usb's featuring Memory Books, and began adding them to other usb's. This one was made using a file from the Wanderlust usb. As I got more confident I discovered a huge amount of tutorials on YouTube which didn't use dies at all. This album was made following a tutorial from Scrap and Create, using Ciao Bellas "The Greatest Show Papers"  This one will never be for sale as for me Ciao Bella papers are very special. I think they are the best you can get.

Monday Meme

From today I am going to post a crafty meme every Monday. Something to start the week with a smile. This first one is just so me. I start with good intentions every time.

Lock Stock and Craft Goes Retro

On April 30th and May 1st the latest Lock, Stock and Craft Market will be taking place on Facebook. The theme this time is Retro. There will be some amazing and beautiful products for sale. I will be selling a selection of greeting cards. This is a favorite of mine, its just do me. I will also have this box of notelets made using the Viva La Diva cdrom by Joanna Sheen. They all feature a funny retro image. There are six designs and two of each.

Vaccination Hub

Since just before Christmas I have been working in the Vaccination Hub at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. I am no stranger to vaccinating as I was part of the flu vaccination team last year. The people I have been working with come from all areas of the hospital. I have made some lovely friends all who have been a great support to me while my mother has been in and out of hospital. We have now vaccinated most of the hospital staff, and care home staff from Gateshead. Sadly it is time to wind down the vaccination clinic. I am now just going to be doing occasional and much smaller clinics. I'm going to miss all of these wonderful people. Thank you to each and everyone for having me as part of your family.

Busy Busy

My life has been very busy lately. My mother has had 15 falls so far tnis year and has been in and put of hospital. She is 84 now and finally decided she should be living in a care home. I have been trying to talk her around to that for a couple of years now so this felt like a good step. I worry about her living alone in her house. Well it's not that easy. My mother owns her own house so of she wete going to go into care she would have to pay for it herself. She lives in a 1960s semi that needs some work before we would be able to sell it. In some cases the local authority will pay for care until the property is sold and then claim the money back from the sale of the house. However my mother's Social Worker has refused to recommend this meaning it is impossible for her to move into a care home. Now she is going to have carers four times a day. I'm pretty sure her falls will continue, and one of these days she is going to seriously hurt herself. A very sad case of lack of c
