Mixed Media Art

Mixed media art is a great way to combine different styles, techniques and mediums into your work. The possibilities are endless!

The best part of mixed media is that it allows you to create an entirely new piece of art that isn't bound by a single style or technique. You could create something that combines painting with drawing, or writing with collage, for example. The possibilities are endless!

Here are a few ideas:

1. Combine elements from different types of media in one piece. For example, combine a painting with drawing on the same canvas or paper, or mix ink and paint on the same surface.

I have used paint, paper shapes and coloured waxes in this piece.

2. Use multiple materials to create one piece of art—for example, use watercolor paint and acrylics to make one painting instead of two separate ones.

I have used paints and printed papers in this piece.

3. Combine different techniques in different areas of your work—for example, use pastels for shading on one area only but leave the other area completely blank so it contrasts nicely with it (this is an easy way to add interest).

In this piece I have used a printed rice paper base, acrylic paint and stamped images which I have addedxdimension to by using a 3D glue gel to stick them in place. I have finished it of with stencilled script and words in decorative paint.

Until Next Time

Celticmoon Crafts

I started Celticmoon Crafts quite a few years ago now. As a passionate crafter I wanted to share my ideas with others, so I started to design my own craft sheets.         This is one of my favorite design sheets. I love anything Oriental.       I produced 20 card making CDroms, covering a range of subjects. This was one of my first CDroms. I love digital crafting. Its much more economical than buying ready printed sheets. If you run put just print another sheets. Of course I have been known to run put of ink before which isn't always good.       I made this card using one of my own designs. Anubis is my favorite Egyptian God. He gets a lot of undeserved bad publicity in my opinion.     I've done a lot of craft fairs in the past.  Sometimes they are very very good and sometimes very very bad. I have been to craft fairs where I have sold loads, and I have been to ...

The Great Pumpkin is on The Way

Like many people I am a great fan of the Peanuts Cartoon Strip, and in particular the ever lovable dog Snoopy. What would the Pesnuts Gang be without him?. Anyone who follows the adventures of the Peanuts Gang will know its almost time for The Great Pumpkin. According to Linus he comes every year delivering toys and gifts to the good boys and girls who sit in the pumpkin patch on Halloween waiting for him to arrive. Of course he eaits every year  usually with Snoopy and The Great Pumpkin never arrives, but he never looses faith  and every year he is back thete waiting.     Halloween is still two months away, but of course we crafters have to get ready for it on lots of time. I am working on things for a craft fair  but I am also trying to get things made to go into my etsy shop. You can check out my shop here  Celticmoon Crafts Shop     These cute little treat bags are going in thos week. They will be £1.50 each and come ...

Health Scare

I have been notably absent over the past couple of weeks. The reason is I have had a health Scare. I returned from the MPC Gala in Edinburgh at the begining of May and developed a niggly pain in my right foot. I thought I had overdone it a bit at the Gala so didn't take much notice. However the pain got worse and eventually I had to go and see my Doctor. She thought I may have  a stress fracture and sent me for an X Ray to check. My X Ray showed a lesion on my toe joint that could not be identified. I was immediately referred to an Orthopaedic Oncologist. Then followed the worst two weeks of my life. As a nurse all of the worst case scenario's went through my head. Sometimes a little bit of k owledge is a bad thing. If I slept for 3 hours a night I was lucky. It was just hell. On Friday I finally went for my appointment. I am hugely relieved to say the specialist is certain the lesion is benign. I have to go for an MRI scan but he has no concerns. I do have a fracture which is ...
