A Project Everyday

Starting tomorrow as it is June 1st I am going to start a month long series of posts. Everyday for a month I am going to share something I have made. I will be sharing cards,Memory Books and Albums, Mixed Media and Much more. I would be delighted if ypu could join me. Cards Bookmarks Handmade Books And Much, much more.

Little Black Cat

I love Black Cats. I think I must have been a witch in a past life. I've had a few black cats in the past. Sadly in rescue homes black cats are the most difficult to remove because of the superstition surrounding them. This little beauty is on a box I recently made. The pictures are of course the unmistakable artwork of Pollyanna Pickering, and from the Majestic Cats CDrom by Creative Crafting World. I love the way the cat is completely lost in watching the butterfly. Pollyanna's artwork is so realistic and I can never get sick of using it. I feel I could almost lean over and tickle the cats ears.

Perfect book covers

As you know I do a lot of mini albums. I find covering them quite difficult. I always seem to be looking for suitable paper to cover them, and so far it has been quite difficult. Hopefully that is going to change. I got this roll of paper from amazon. Its quite heavy weight but easily folded so the cover won't be to bulky. Fingers crossed that it does the job. I hope it does work because the roll is quite big. If it does the job it comes in white and Craft options as well so I may invest in them as well Watch this space to see how it goes.

Retro Market Feedback

As you know I took part in a Retro Craft Market a couple of weeks ago.   I got some exellent feedback from my customers. I'm very happy with how the Market went. The next Market has a Magical Theme and takes place at the end of June. I'll give ypu more details closer to the event.

Aliexpress Haul

I had a few crafty goodies arrive from Aliexpress this morning. I get quite a lot of crafty bits and pieces from Aliexpress. They do sometimes take a long time to arrive, but the prices are good. This is my little pile of goodies. First up is a 100g pack of air dry clay. I always get my air dry clay from Aliexpress. It's much cheaper than rhe branded stuff you pay for here and is equally as good. I'm trying to build a collection of base colours. I seem to have mislayed my corner rounding punch. I bought this one as it has 3 diffetent sized corners on it. I do use a corner rounder quite a lot as I think it makes cards look better. I bought this set of edge dies specifically for my Memory Books. They are continuous dies so if the design isn't long enough for your page it is easily matched up again to contue cutting until you have the desired length. I love this and think it is a wonderful find. I bought it specifically to decorate a box. Can't wait to get started with it.

The Benefits of Crafting

The past 18 months have been a difficult time for us all. For most of that time we have been at home, or very restricted about where we can go. I suffer from an anxiety disorder so being locked away has not been the best thing for me. Crafting has always been a safe haven for me, but it has kept me sane during the pandemic. I have had a Scan and Cut CM900 for about 2 years now. I had used it a little bit mainly in my card making, but oh my goodness it has really come into its own during lockdown. I now use it almost everyday.  The first big project I used it for was this vintsge style box. I was delighted with the way it turned out. I had my firstvtry at mixed media during lockdown. I love all things Egyptian so I did this using some Tatteted Lace papers and dies, and some different paints. I'm now completely hooked. Concrete casting is something else I have had a go at. Rome is one of my favorite places and this little Coloseum has pride of place in my garden. This is my favorite

Pyramid Card Tutorial

This is the first of what I hope will become a regular tutorial feature. I thought I would go back to basics and make a simple pyramid card. Let's start with what you will need. 1) Printed sheet to make the card. This one is a die-cut sheet from my crafty stash. 2) A sheet of plain A4 card to make the card base. This one is white, but you can use any colour. 3) Decorative paper to comment your card image. 4) Foam pads or 3D glue, whichever you prefer. 5) Regular glue. There is a huge range of glues on the market, so use the one you are happiest with. 6) Embellishments. 7) Gold Mirri Card First of take your sheet of plain card to make your card base. Fold the card in half like this to make an A5 card blank. This is the base ypu will use for your card. To create the background cut a piece of the decorative card 1/4 of an inch smaller on the width and length of the front of the card. This will give you 1/8th of an inch border all of the way round. Glue it in place like this. Do not us

Friday Flashback

Today I thpught I would show ypu a memory from my past. A few years back there was an Alternative Expo in Newcastle. It was a pity there was only one because we had a really good day. I was helped by my beautiful daughter Louise on the day of the show. Celticmoon Crafts had a well positioned stall in the main hall. As well as a variety of stalls selling all materials of alternative goodies there was entertainment. There were burlesque dancers, and most memorable of all was a Zombie Belly Dancer All in all it was a great day and one I won't forget.

May The 4th Be With You
