Pyramid Card Tutorial

This is the first of what I hope will become a regular tutorial feature. I thought I would go back to basics and make a simple pyramid card.

Let's start with what you will need.
1) Printed sheet to make the card. This one is a die-cut sheet from my crafty stash.
2) A sheet of plain A4 card to make the card base. This one is white, but you can use any colour.
3) Decorative paper to comment your card image.
4) Foam pads or 3D glue, whichever you prefer.
5) Regular glue. There is a huge range of glues on the market, so use the one you are happiest with.
6) Embellishments.
7) Gold Mirri Card

First of take your sheet of plain card to make your card base.

Fold the card in half like this to make an A5 card blank. This is the base ypu will use for your card.

To create the background cut a piece of the decorative card 1/4 of an inch smaller on the width and length of the front of the card. This will give you 1/8th of an inch border all of the way round. Glue it in place like this. Do not use a lot of glue. You just need a small amount.

To create the base layer of you paramage image take your latest picture image, cut a piece of the gold mirror card 1/4 of an inch longer and wider than your image.

Glue your image onto the gold card like this. Then glue the image to your base card in the centre of the top half of the card front.

Next take the second layer of the pyramage. This will be the next smallest layer. Put foam pads or 3D glue on the back like this. Make sure the layer is well supported so it doesn't sag anywhere.

To position the layer I find it best to stand over the card so I am looking down on it from above. This makes it easier to match the pattern up. Carefully match up the pattern with the layer below and fix into place.

Continue like this working from largest to smallest image and you will end up with some thing like this. The shape gives this technique the name pyramage because it looks like a pyramid.

Add a sentiment which has also been mounted on gold mirri card. If you wish you can mount this on foam pads so it matches up with ypur main image.

Finally add some embellishments. Hete I have added some butterflies and faux gems in complimentary colours.

Once you have practiced you can make lots of variations of this type of card.

Enjoy.

Two Red Robins Magazine - Issue 3

While I was away in Italy issue 2 of the Two Red Robins Magazine was released on Create and Craft. I have no idea how much it cost on Create and Craft, but it was on the Highlight Crafts website for £14.99. Because I am a member of the Highlight Craft Club I got it gor £12.99 with free postage. The free cover die this month is a hydrangea and it comes with two sheets of charisma, backing papers and scene sheets. You can download further copies from the Highlight website. Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers, I have two huge ones in my garden, so this die is going to be very useful to me. The magazine has some projects using the cover die. Great for anyone looking for inspiration, but especially usefull for somebody just starting on a crafty journey There are also some projects using other Two Red Robin Die Sets. There are also projects using a mixture of dies from different collections.  I like to see projects like this, they are a great source of inspiration, but im sure you can

My Weight Loss Journey

I have quite bad arthritis in both of my knees. The extra weight I am carrying about is not helping them at all. Its time I took action and got rid of the extra pounds. I am going to do this by simple calorie counting. At present I cant afford a Slimming group, but I know if I am in the right place mentally I can do this, I have done it before.   We get a Wonky vegetable box delivered every week so I am going to be cooking healthy low calorie food using the items in the box. I have all of the Pinch of Nom, Slimming Eats, Slimming Foodie, and Sugar Pink Foods cookbooks so I will have plenty of choice.     My food is planned out for the next week, and I will be recording everything on my Samsung Health App. It always helps me to record everything.     I got of to a good start as I have lost 2lbs this week. Fingers crossed I can keep it up.
