My Crafty Life

I've had my SDX1200 for about a moth now, used it a lot and now my mats have no sticky left. As I am going to retack it anyway I thpught I would show you how I do it. You might have seen a few different ways to retack your mat, and none of them are wrong, this is just the way I do it. Please forgive the disgusting state of my work mat. It's very well *loved* 😆 First of all I took one of my old cm900 mats which I used as a template. I carefully cut the middle cutting area out, making sure I left the measuring guide along the sided. I cut a hole in the middle with my craft knife and then carefully cut the test of it put using a pair of scissors, but you can do it whichever way you find easiest. I then placed the old mat over the top of my new mat as shown. I held it in place with a couple of pieces of low tack tape because I didnt want the template to move while I was spreading the glue. I cant believe that yesterday my Little girl was 33. How time flies. I'm on holiday this week so I went for a birthday lunch with Louise and her husband Kevin. Louise loves sheep, and in particular she loves Shaun the sheep, so I had to make a Shaun birthday card for her. I made an A5 card blank by folding a piece of white card in half. Then I glued a mat of black card in place. Thete is a half cm border around the mat. Blue is Louise's favorite colour so next I added a blue mat, again with a 1/2 cm border. A while back I got an Ardman usb from Create and Craft. I used it for this d3coupage of the flock doing what looks like a bit of a wobbly dancing act. I then added a sentiment from a Paper Boutique usb. The card is then finished with some birthday themed peel offs. I'm very happy to tell you she loved her card. Happy Crafting Everyone.

I am going to start some regular features, the first of which will be a scrapbooking feature on Mondays. I am at the minute working on a Scrapbook about my dad. He passed away in 1997. My daughter Louise remembers him at little, she was 8 when he passed away. My son Adam was only 2, and doesn't remember his grandad at all. This is so very sad because he was devoted to them both. I decided I should make a scrapbook about dad and keep him alive forever in all of our memories. This is the first page done. I think he looks about 6 in the picture on the left, a real cutie. I know the picture on the right was taken when he was 14 because he told me so. It was taken when he left school and started his first job in the Co Op in Dunston. So now I am on the way to preserving my memories of my dad. I hope you will join me on the journey  Happy Crafting.

I first came across Hunkydory Construction Glue less than a year ago. I had heard a lot of rave reviews of this Glue, and when it wS on special offer on Create and Craft I got some to try. I was not disappointed.  I now use it for all of My Memory Books. It's give a quick, strong hold. I do all of my pride ting on 128gsm Navigator paper and u have never seen this Glue cause wrinkles in the paper. I made this box from layered greyboard to store my tarot cards. Again I used this amazing Glue and the box is used daily. This Hunkydory glue is pretty much the only Glue I use nowadays. I think the o ly time I use a different one is if I need a 3D glue. As you know ow I love my Scan and Cut. I have had a trusty CM900 for about 5 years now. In the last few months it has not been cutting properly. I have caries everything suggested, looked at hundreds of YouTube videos, but it just wasn't playing. It was my birthday on Thursday and I finally made the decision to treat myself to a new machine. I ordered the Scan and Cut sdx1200 from Highlight Crafts. I ordered it at lunchtime on Thursday and on Thursday evening recieved an email from Royal Mail to say it would be delivered on Friday. Unfortunately I was at work on Friday so had to arrange for it to be delivered on Saturday. It arrived on Saturday morning. I should have bought up long before now. Its a fantastic machine. It's do quiet. I think I could use it when Dave was in bed. I set it up on the livingroom floor to check it worked. Before I k ew it my first project was done.    I made this using a Paper Pantry usb. Next up I did this doily which is from another Paper Pantry usb...

This is a totally non craft related post and relates to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. If this upsets you please leave now. I am appalled by the whole situation in Ukraine at the minute. Ukraine are no threat to anyone, they just want yo be a free and independent country. What is wrong with that and have we not all been in that situation at sometime in history. There are many horror stories surfacing at the minute, and today I was appalled to see Russian children arrested and detained for laying flowers at the Ukrainian Embassy. In the meantime I just want to say I stand with Ukrain and will give them all the support I can. We must stand together and support freedom for everyone.
