What is Your Favorite Craft?

Has anyone ever asked you what is your favorite craft? Do you do a lot of different crafts, or do you stick to one?

I have tried my hand at many different crafts over the years. I think I knitted first, for both my children and myself. I have done a bit of cross stitch. I love the end result but, it really doesnt grow fast enough for me. I discovered card making about 15 years ago, and i still love to make them..I have done a bit of scrapbooking and recently discovered Memory Book making, which is a bit of an obsession now. I'll do a post about my Memory Books another day.
Back to the original question of what is your favorite craft?

I recently started a journey Into Mixed Media and I am loving it. I start with a basic idea of what I want to do and it just evolves as I go along.
This was one of my first pieces. The main image is printed from the first Imagination crafts usb. I am hugely influenced by Mandy from Imagination Crafts. As you can see I decoupage the image to give a 3D image.. The stencilling is simply done with black acrylic paint.
Believe it or not this was once a cotton bud box. Now it's a very pretty little storage box.
I did a little bit of plaster casting with this one. The paint I have used here is a sample pot from Homebase. I think it looks pretty good.

This is my latest piece. I'm very happy with this one. I hope you can see me improving as I go along. Who knows what the future will hold. I may try something else in the future, or I may just continue with the crafts I do now.

Take Notice of Your Surroundings

We tend to live in a bubble, only seeing what’s right in front of us, or focusing on things that relate to our interests. It’s easy to be unaware of your surroundings, but you might find some new friends if you just take notice of people around you. Your social circle is expanding as we speak, and it can be difficult to stay connected with everyone; however, all it takes is one person with whom you share something in common. After talking with them for a few minutes, they could lead you toward someone else who shares an interest of yours. Before long, your social circle will expand exponentially. Take notice: it’s important! You never know who you could meet. You never know where life might take you. And you never know how many new friendships might come out of seemingly random encounters. Expand your horizons and make more connections by taking more notice today. Who knows where it could lead? Who knows who you’ll meet? And most importantly, who knows how many amazing things will hap...

A Day in The Life of a Crafter

I have always had an interest in crafts and handmade items of all kinds, but I never considered myself to be very good. I set up an Instagram account first and I got some very nice comments about the things I had made. I thought it might be a good idea to share with you my typical crafty day. As you know I am at present a nurse, although I don't know how much longer I will be working. I'm hoping I can retire in the next couple of years. Anyway this is my crafty day when I am not at work. I wake up  roll out of bed and head downstairs for breakfast. I'm not a fan of huge breakfasts but I have to have something. After breakfast it's time to take Star out gonna walk. She loves her walk. After that it's back home and into The Craftroom. I spend some time finishing of a project  orcstarting a new one. I always seem to have more than one project on the go at once. At the minute I am working on some new items for a nature themed fair I am taking part in in April. I usually...

Christmas Wreath Decoration.

I made this Wreath using files from a Carnation crafts Christmas usb. It was really easy to make. It comes with all of the mats and layers you need as well as all of the decoupage. There are 3 mat layers. I cut two base layers in black, a middle layer in gold and the top layer in black. I cut two base layers because I have put a ribbon loop at the top so you can hang the finished Wreath up. I simply held the ribbon in place with a piece of tape and then sandwiched it between the two black base layers. Then I added the gold layer and finally the black top layer. Next was the decoupage. I printed the decoupage onto 128gsm Navigator paper. This is my go to paper. The print quality is exellent. I get mine in bulk from amazon but if you have a Wilko nearby they sell it as well. I glued the base layer in place flat. Then I added the decoupage pieces using silicone glue. I shaped the pieces to give a better effect by just gently moulding the pieces with my fingers. The sentiment was cut from ...
