Handmade Gift Making

If you are interested in making handmade gifts, there are plenty of resources available to help you get started. Here are some tips to consider: Choose a project that matches your skill level. If you are new to crafting, start with something simple like a handmade card or a personalized keychain. I made tbis card using a digital download kit. Consider the recipient's interests and preferences when choosing a project. For example, if they love to read, you could make them a bookmark. I made these simply by cuttingcout an image and then laminating it so it will last longer. My friend was delighted with it. Gather all the necessary materials before starting your project. This will save you time and make the process smoother. Take your time and enjoy the process. Handmade gifts are a labor of love, and the recipient will appreciate the effort you put into making something special just for them. Don't be afraid to ask for help or advice. The Great Crochet Challenge

I have never been able to get the hang of crochet. It's a shame really because I have seen some beautiful crochet pieces. My daughter Louise loves to crochet. I have a couple of pairs of gloves she has made for me.     I have decided its time for a change. I have set myself the challenge of learning to crochet this year. I have a digital magazine subscription with Readly. It's a fantastic subscription. Not only do you get every magazine you can think of in this country, but other countries as well. Give it a look its well worth the price in my opinion. One of the magazines in the subscription is this one. I've had a quick look and it looks easy enough to follow, so I am going to give it a go. I'm off to Italy for a week today, but when I get back I will be starting.

Work in Progress

I am sure that I am not the only person who has more than one thing on the go at the same time. I thought you might be interested to here what I am working on at the minute. 1) A 12x12 Memory Book for our holiday in Sorrento in 2019. This album is rather larger. So far I have used 4 12x12 Ciao Bella Summer Tales paper pads. I have one section of the album left to do. 2) A memory Folio decorated with dotty papers. The folio is from the last edition of Rosa Kelly's Scrapbooking Magazine. The papers I am using to decorate it are by Creative Crafting World. 3) Journey to Oz Memory Book. This is an 8x8 album decorated with Debbi Moore Journey to Oz papers. I am busy making video tutorials as I make this album. 4) Various home decor items. We are planning on some decorating this year so I want to do some nice pieces to compliment thr new decor.

A Journey to Oz

I have had the Debbi Moore usb A Journey to Oz for quite a while and I thought it was time I did something with it. Today I have started work on this Memory Album. I love that one of the backing papers is the yellow brick Road. It was the perfect choice for the cover. I added a topper with the main characters on it, and added a sentiment and paper ribbon. I need to add some finishing touches I am making a set of video tutorials to go onto my YouTube Channel "Craft At Home With Allyson" So far I have made 4 videos. Of course they need tidying up a bit before they are ready to go onto YouTube.

Memory Folio

This is my latest Memory Album project. The folio is made from a design by Rosa Kelly. I love her work. I follow her on YouTube and subscribe to her digital magazine.  Once the Folio was completed I decorated it with papers from a Creative Crafting World. I'm going to put a walkthrough video of this album on YouTube over the next few days. This album is now available to buy in my etsy shop

Goth Knitting

My latest project is finished. It is made in a double knit cotton yarn that I purchased rom amazon. I'm quite pleased with how it has turned out. I'm planning my next project already.

New Paper Trimmer

I have been looking for a new paper trimmer for quite a while. The one I have is a Wescott Rotary Trimmer and is a very good one, however the blades are very expensive and proving quite fifficult to get hold of. I would really like a cuterpillar Pro but they are very expensive. This one is available from Create and Craft but is very expensive. The good thing is you never need to buy another blade, but even so its a bit out of my price range. Moving to ebay I found this one. It's the same machine, and brand new, just £65 cheaper. That seems like a bargain I can't miss so I have ordered it. It should arrive on Thursday or Friday. I think what this shows is don't just go for the first thing you see.  Shop around and see if you can find a better bargain. I certainly did.

This week I am planning to get back on my exercise bike and hope to help my knee a bit beforecwe head off yo Verona on the 17th of May.

Memory Making GB

I am pleased to tell ypu I have set up a new Etsy Shop. It was my intention yo simply call it Memory Makers but the name was already taken so it had yo become Memory Makers GB. I intend yo use the shop yo sell my ginished Memory Books, and possibly at some point kits to make Memory Books. I have been thinking about that for a while, so it is something I am working on. For the minute I am just working on  getting my completed Memory Books into my shop.
